This summer, when you're on your way out the door for a fun Friday or Saturday night on the town, you can leave the car keys behind.
You may already know that COAST runs bus service throughout the seacoast. Maybe you're already aware that our buses will get you almost anywhere you need to go in the region - shopping centers, healthcare facilities, restaurants, theaters and other entertainment. Hopefully you've used the bus before - but in case you haven't, we'd like to give you even more reason to try.
We're expanding service this summer on our two most heavily used bus routes, which travel through the most heavily populated towns, on the most heavily traveled afternoons and evenings of the week: Fridays and Saturdays. We're running later into the night on Fridays and Saturdays on Route 2. We're adding Saturday service on Route 1, which doesn't normally run on Saturdays.
The COAST bus is an affordable way to get where you're going. You may not have to put $1.50 into your car each time you use it, but we guarantee you over the course of the year you'd save hundreds of dollars using the bus to go to the same places you drive your car.
Using the COAST bus instead of driving your car is better for the environment. The more people who choose the bus over their car, the fewer cars are on the road creating smog. In the summer heat, the higher number of people driving to enjoy the nice weather creates a lot more pollution.
There are other reasons, too. You won't have to find parking or feed meters. You can meet new people. Relax on your way there and back. Whatever the reason, try using the bus this summer. Supporting our expanded service over the summer will help us make a case to get funding for expanded service year-round.
