Details of the New 01 Series COAST Buses:
- Gillig is a transit bus manufacturer in Hayward, CA.
- The Low-Floor style bus is a popular new trend in the public transit market because of their ease of entry for the elderly and individuals with disabilities.
- These buses are the first new heavy-duty buses COAST has purchased in 15 years.
- The Gilligs are 10' smaller (30' vs. 40') than the buses they are replacing.
- They will operate primarily on COAST Route 1 (Dover-Somersworth-Berwick) and Route 2 (Rochester-Somersworth- Dover-Newington-Portsmouth).
- The buses are equipped with a clean-burning Detroit Diesel 280hp Series 40 engine.
- The buses feature other modern components, including: anti-lock brakes, traction control, interior climate control, LED lighting, and an LED electronic destination sign.
- The buses are painted in COAST's new paint scheme with a complimentary interior.
